I'm absolutely shocked that another year has quietly slipped by me. WIth 2012 looming over me, that can only mean one thing. I need a new calendar. Being a fan of calendars that think outside the box, I have to say I'm quit fond of MAKE Collaborations new calendar, Vertical. According to MAKE, they "kept the idea of the Vertical simple and functional with an added hint of sex panther. By choosing a vertical timeline, as opposed to the traditional serpentine approach, it kept our calendar easy to read, and downright fun to look at."
Check out the photo's for some nice thoughtful details. (hello magnetic thumb tack!)
Sometimes all you need is a little bit of confetti to get you going! Thankfully, you can get the party started every day with one of these hand-printed calendars from Red Star Ink. Printed on heavy recycled felt stock, this sturdy wall calendar will hold up through a year's worth of shenanigans.
A calendar and tea towel in one?? Oh, be still my beating heart! Artist and designer Avril Loreti (whose work I've gushed about a few times) recently released this painterly 2012 calendar just in time for gift-giving season. With splashes of color and gorgeous hand-drawn touches, this lovely looker is definitely at the top of my wish list!
This charming animal calendar is great for kids (of all ages!) and is available as a pdf download, so you can print as many as you like. I really love the illustration style, don't you??
Clean and simple with a pop of color for flair... yes, yes I quite like this new poster-sized wall calendar from Up Up Creative! Snag one right here.
For the DIY crowd, wall calendar printing is available at PsPrint.com.
First things first: I'm finding it nearly impossible to believe that it's almost September. SEPTEMBER, people! How did this happen? Ack! Of course, one good thing about this whole "it's practically fall and then it's going to be winter and then it's going to be 2012 and then it's the end of the world" conspiracy is that there's a whole slew of awesome calendars popping up. I love calendars! I especially love when they're represented in a slightly more abstract or unconventional way, like these poster sized calendars by Pam Lostracco. My favorite of the bunch is themountain design, inspired by her trips through Thailand and Laos. The bamboo and water ring designs are pretty sweet too. Check 'em all out here and let me know which is your fave!
Kaya is a graphic designer and illustrator currently based in Alberta, Canada whose charming style instantly put a smile on my face! Most of her work is up on Flickr, including this lovable little sloth pictured above - I just want to squeeze him! She's also putting together an illustrated 2012 calendar that I'm excited to see finished - even though the idea that another year is nearly upon us is CRAZY. If you like what you see though, be sure to check out more of her work through the link below.
I know that's a mouthful, but it is what it is: a 2011 letterpress calendar coaster set. Each coaster is hand printed on a vintage letterpress and features a monthly calendar on one side and a rad design on the other. The set includes 13 coasters (one for each month, plus the "2011 cover" coaster). A pretty sweet idea, if you ask me!

It's not too late* to snag a calendar for the new year! While we've featured quite a few recently, this Mid-Century themed wall/desk calendar from PS Paper Goods might be my favorite. Each month features an iconic design in a range of soft candy colors (reminiscent of the pink or blue tiled bathrooms of yore). If you're already set with a 2011 calendar, check out this Mid-Century notebookinstead!

*When is it too late to get a calendar for the current year? February? May? Are there rules for these things?
2011. It's coming, and it's going to be your best year ever. To keep track of all the awesome things you'll be doing, you need an equally awesome calendar. May I submit for your consideration calendar two thousand eleven? Sure the name is a little obvious, but the calendar itself isn't. It uses an unorthodox horizontal layout to keep track of the days. The design geek in you will also appreciate the fact that it's typeset in Akzidenz Grotesk and printed on 150 GSM curious particles snow paper. Whatever that means.

Okay, that's it. I've decided that with all these cool wall calendars we keep finding, maybe I ought to have a "wall calendar wall"... This All Year Round calendar might be the star of the show, though! I love the color gradation and graphic quality. Beautiful, beautiful!
Made in Denmark and printed on matte paper. 27.5" x 27.5".
All Year Round Calendar available from the MoMA Store: $45
Much to my delight 2011 is just around the corner. I'm officially declaring it the year of fresh starts, where anything is possible and the sky is the limit. Yeah, I'm an optimist. To keep track of all your new opportunities you may need to pick up a new desk calendar, and Redbean has a doozy. It comes packed with illustrations, great colors and even a easel style display case. Just what you need to help you conquer 2011 with style.
It's 2011 calendar-buyin' time, you guys! Can you believe it? I mean it's Thanksgiving today. That's pure craziness. (Happy Thanksgiving, by the way.) I don't know where 2010 went, but at least with a fun wall calendar like this one, I can keep track of 2011. Right? Right.
This double-sided wall calendar is 9” x 24” and only available in a limited edition of 250. Get on it!

Minimalists will love this relief printed calendar from Philip Luscombe. Embossed using brass die parts and a hand press, this 2010 calendar is beautifully simple. I love the symbols to mark holidays and even Daylight Saving Time. This calendar is not quite available yet, but you can keep an eye on Philip's site for an announcement.
Calendars aren't usually where you look to make a big impact in your decor, but the Yearly Planner from Miriam Bereson does just that. This large-scale, brightly hued calendar is great for those needing to plan ahead (each dot has plenty of writing space) or for those looking to add a graphic (and functional) element to their decor. Available for $15 - what's not to like?
This simple, modern letterpress calendar is the newest addition from LA-based shop The Paper Thieves. Each month takes center stage in a beautiful, hand-cut walnut base. Swap out the cards as the months pass. Letterpress printed with black ink on Crane's cotton Lettra paper.
